What Is a Labradoodle?
The Labradoodle is a crossbreed between a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle, first bred in Australia in the 1980s to combine the Labrador's friendly nature with the Poodle's low-shedding coat. Since then, they've become one of the most popular designer dog breeds in the world, prized for being intelligent, affectionate, and great with families.
Temperament
- Friendly and social — they love people and other dogs
- Highly intelligent, which makes them easy to train
- Energetic and playful, especially as puppies
- Often used as therapy and guide dogs thanks to their calm, eager-to-please nature
Care Tips
Exercise
At least 30–60 minutes of activity a day. They love walks, fetch, and swimming.
Grooming
Regular brushing 2–3 times a week to prevent matting, plus a trim every 6–8 weeks.
Training
Start early — they're smart and pick up commands fast, but get bored with repetition.
